An adjunct professor of entertainment software engineering, a researcher and an author currently associated with the Lappeenranta University of Technology. Currently working as a associate professor and the head of the Bachelor's degree program at LUT, with the background on qualitative studies on game development and game industry, software testing and test process development from the viewpoint of process organization. Prior to focusing on the software engineering aspects, worked actively on fields such as computer science education, teaching applications and blended learning. Dr. Kasurinen is also the third person in the history of the LUT to be awarded the LTKY Teaching Award twice.

Current research interests include but are not restricted to game industry, game development, game technologies, software processes, software production methods and testing strategies. Additionally, personal interest and active member of research community in the earlier research topics like distance learning, user behavior analysis and computer science education.
Besides academia, Jussi Kasurinen is an active member of Finnish Software Measurement Association (FiSMA), working as a board member and chairman of the research forum. Dr. Kasurinen has also written several books related to computer science and software engineering, published both in Finnish and English. Kasurinen is also involved in municipality level politics, and was the latest chairman of the student benefits and grants board at the city of Lappeenranta.
